How to add a favicon to a Wordpress Blog?
In total there are 3 methods of doing it and we'll be describing each one in detail.
Method 1. Adding Code MethodStep 1. Login to Wordpress > Appearance > Editor
Login to Wordpress Admin Dashboard and locate the Appearance tab. Then select the Editor option to open the Editor Page.
Step 2. Select Theme > Choose Header From Templates > Add Code
Now choose and select the theme to which you want to add the Favicon from the dropdown menu located at the top right of the Editor page. Now select the Header file (i.e Header.php) from the Template section on the right side.This would reload the page with its code in the text box. Now search for </Head> in the code and add the below code before this replacing your Favicon's url.
This completes our first method. This method is useful for WordPress version 4.2 and below.
Method 2. Upload Favicon Method
Step 1. Login to WordPress Admin Panel > Menu > Appearance
Login to Wordpress Admin Dashboard and locate the Appearance tab from the Menu. Then select the Customize option.
Step 2. Customize > Customize Pop Up Window > Site Identity

After you choose the customize option a pop up window will appear. Now select the 'Site Identity' option from here.
Step 3. Select File > Upload Favicon
Press 'Select file' and choose the favicon from your PC or phone. Now the choosen favicon would be uploaded.
Step 4. Crop Uploaded .ico > Preview & Save
If the uploaded Favicon is improper sized WordPress would give you an option to crop the image to the size suitable for Favicons. Finally preview your favicon and if you're satisfied save it.
This method is best for newer versions of WordPress I.e 4.3 and above.
Method 3. Install Plug-Ins Method
In WordPress you always have an option to simply add a plugin and then let it do the job for you. Some of the best Plugins for favicon are:
